Draw #41 2014 Number-Pickers Challenge

Welcome to the fourty-first draw of the 6/49 Number-Pickers Challenge. The draw will be held on Wednesday, May 21st.

For comparison purposes the following 20 numbers have been randomly generated by Random.org:

2,6,7,8,10,17,21,22,23,32,33,36,38,39,40,42,44,45,46,48

*****************************************
Rules:
Numbers will be selected for the UK National Lottery.
Each participant will submit 20 numbers for each draw.
New numbers must be submitted for each draw.
UK Lottery sales are cut off at 7:30 UST, so the post containing the numbers must be timestamped by 14:30 CST on the date of the draw.
If a player misses a draw, the average of all the players for that draw will be assigned as their score.

Good luck to all!

Ramijami's entries are timed at 08:20 pm British Standard time, the deadline (terminals close ) is 07:30 pm BST during the summer (06:30 pm GMT or UST) I think that's too late. :).

Posted at 8:20 SA time....we usually 1-2 hours ahead of UK time so thought I was still in time (don't know what time the UK draws happen), plus the timezones can be quite confusing as the message timestamp is different. Sometimes I can't post early in the day or post the day before, so on those days I will refrain from posting as it will probably be too late :)

All I can tell you is that at the time you posted those numbers, the lottery terminals in the UK were closed because it was after the deadline of 7-30 pm BST. I would not have been allowed to buy a ticket here in the UK.

However I can confirm that the draw actually took place at 9-00 pm BST, so you did post 40 minutes before the draw took place. :)

Tx Frank. Now I have the terminal close time it is easier relate it to my time zone and have an idea of whether I'll be on time or too late :thumb:. Must just remember for when they change to daylight savings time :lol3:

According to timeanddate.com, 20:20 Cape Town time is equivalent to 19:20 London time, so Ramijami is OK, submitting his tickets 10 minutes before the cutoff.

I use timeanddate.com a lot, with all the people in different time zones submitting tickets, complicated by the fact that LT's server didn't pick up the time change this spring.

Good luck!

But it wasn't posted at 20:20 Cape Town time, it was posted at 20:20 UK time, that's what it says when I view the post, it displays the readers local time of posting wherever in the world they live, surely? I have my time zone set to GMT with automatic DST, (currently I
I see BST ) so it always shows the correct time ( to me in the UK) of a post by anybody. That tells me it was posted 40 minutes after the 7:30 pm deadline.

Sorry, Ramijami. Frank is correct and my previous post, above, is incorrect.

From the bottom of the Lotto Forums page:
All times are GMT -6. The time now is 05:52 AM.

Since the UK is currently on summer time, their time is GMT +1, meaning the draw takes place at GMT 18:30. So, subtracting 6 hours from GMT means the timestamp on the message must be 12:30 PM.

This was my error, as I adjusted the cut-off time included in my message in the wrong direction (added one hour as opposed to subtracting one hour).

My apologies for any confusion that this has caused.

Thanks guys.....I now have a guideline to post before 8pm my time to meet the cut-off. I sometimes only get home after 8 (like last night) so it does mean that I might not be able to participate on those days as it means that even though I'll be able to post before the draw (very close) I will miss the cut-off. My apologies in advance if I can only participate on the weekend draw and miss the Wednesday one. Icewynd, I'm not sure if this will impact on your stats in any way and if it would be okay to only participate in the weekend draw?

Hold the phone...

Ramijami you may be OK.

My screen says that you posted your results at 1:20 PM/13:30, which is supposed to be my local time.

http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/?qm=1&lid=2643743,3369157,0,6167865&h=6167865&date=2014-5-22&sln=13.5-14

As you can see from the link, 1:20 my time (Eastern Daylight Time) is before the cut-off. However, Frank's computer is telling him it was posted at 8:20 PM/20:20 BST which would be 3:20 EDT and 9:20PM/21:20 in Cape Town. So there seems to be a problem with the times that are appearing on the messages. I have contacted LT and asked him to confirm the time of posting.

If you are not able to post in the mid-week draw, the average of all results will be used in calculating your average score. However, until LT gets back to me please continue to post as usual up to 8:30/21:30 your local time.

Sorry for all the confusion,

Just for the record, the displayed posting time for my posts agrees with my watch. So my watch currently reads 00:11 BST, I'll check my posting time:-

It shows I posted at 12:11 am. :thumb:

I would expect then, that if it showed someone else posted at 8:20 PM my time, that they did in fact post at 8:20 PM my time.

Icewynd you later said that your screen showed that Ramijami posted at 1:20 PM your time. It's still 40 minutes late isn't it ? :)

No, 13:20 EDT is only 18:20 BST (and 19:20 SAST). But Ramijami said he posted at 20:20, so something is off.

I will wait to see what LT can tell us.
