You shouldn't. If you "hire" a lawyer to go with you to collect your jackpot, you'll be paying him/her and then next thing you know, they'll want to "manage" your money for you. Here in my state, you do not need a lawyer to collect your jackpot. You go to the lottery office, make sure you have valid ID and take your winning ticket. I have never heard of anyone needing a lawyer to collect a jackpot. My mom won 10,000 at a casino and they took us to the VIP area and gave me a brick of 100.00 bills that still had the wrapper on it.
