original box comes up you can see the blue formatting you already did and the yellow formatting too.

>new rule>use a formula to determine which cells to format
type in box =A8<A7
click format >click fill tab> choose GREEN>Ok
look at preview click Ok
click in "applies to" box delete contents, then
select range A8:N798 >OK
Everything is lit up
FINISHED
------------------------------------
If you made a mistake, whilst the conditional formatting dialog is showing,
EITHER
click on the colour you were formatting, click "delete rule", then start again with new rule.
OR
click on the colour you were formatting, click "edit rule" and change either the formula in the box OR click Ok and change the "applies to" range. Perhaps do both.

If anyone else interested in Excel wants to practice using conditional formatting, then the above excercise applied to jacks spreadsheet is a good place to start. I would be interested to know if the above instructions are clear enough to follow.

It is very clear and easy to follow. I use conditional formatting a lot.

BlouBul

Thank you for your feedback Bloubul, I thought so. Very helpful. :)

I don’t think I’m being unreasonable insisting that jack tries harder to help himself.

No assembling of formulas required.
Just follow SIMPLE instructions.
