I shouldn't have said "come out even".

What percentage of the sums in the 6/49 are even, with and without the bonus. What about odd sums?

What I meant by "come out even" was do the even and odd show up about 50/50. It's kind of like flipping a coin several times and expecting around 50% heads and 50% tales to show.
Does it come out that way for even/odd?

Good question! I will look at this and I will post the stats..I suppose that the odd should have a few more but when the sum is high I have no Idea....I will have to search for it!
It will be usefull to, because I am often playing on the high side!
It needs to be done...I will have to enter a few things here and there to get the answer but as soon as I'll have it I will post it!

O:K: I have some answers ....
For the 6/49 taking to account only the draws having a sum of 160 and above ( regular numbers) 776 draws the ratio of odd-even is as follows...
ODD=50.7%
EVEN=49.3%

This gives us an average sum of 183.1 between the 776 draws.
But what would we have won playing a high sum filtered set of ODD-EVEN numbers...

After rechecking it all....
In these high draws the number 47 is the one that comes out the most often it came out 165 times as a regular number ...
Furthermore 42 was part of every set (4)that had 6 winning regular numbers when only the even numbers were forming the set and + it was also taking part in 19 set with 5 regular winning even numbers.....So 42 would make an outstanding DN numbers in these high draws....
The 20-43 combo is still the best pairs to play in these high draws it showed up 29 times both numbers as regular numbers but if we add the bonus it's a different story it is tied with the 42-49 combo each pair came up 39 times in these draws...
The best triple is 38-43-45 it came up 10 times as regular numbers and 01 time one numbers of the threesome beeing a bonus...
As a regular number the 31 came up 124 times in these high draws and 17 times as a bonus.....
In 330 draws from the 776 one single digit was in the winning selection and in 33 more draws 2 single digits were part of the winning selection...
Now there is also something interesting about the LDs and consecutives in these draws...I'll post more on this later....

Even or odd sums

For all possible sums of 6 numbers (259 different ones from 21 to 279), there are 129 that are even (or 49.81%) and 130 that are odd (or 50.19%).

For the first 1907 draws of Lotto 6/49, 953 sums were even (or 49.97%) and 954 sums were odd (or 50.03%). Pretty much the same and not significantly different from the theorical values.

As far as the distribution of the sums, it follows quite well the standard distribution (bell shape) except for a slightly lower count than expected for the range 141 to 150.

Interesting Gilles ...I was thinking ...some sets having 2,4 or 6 odd numbers would end up in the even section overall...
example: 17-31-33-37-41-47=206
but as you pointed out it doesn't affect the overall status...
