hiya CalifDude...yup, my grandpa was at Pearl Harbor when it got nailed...he survived, but couldn't do anything to rescue people trapped in ships...they were alive inside crippled ships, tappin code on the hulls with wrenches...but in those days, there was nothing to cut through the heavy, thick plate armor hulls.
even today I imagine it'd be tough to perform such a rescue.
There is a small pier at Oceanside Harbor with a Pearl Harbor memorial...there were rose petals scattered on the pier from a ceremony early in the morning, too bad I missed it.
