Don't be disenchanted with your number selection skills, this takes time to develop. You can liken picking numbers to fishing for lack of a better analogy....sometimes the fishing is good, sometimes it sucks but its always entertaining. The more you fish, the better you become at it, the better you fish, the more for dinner. Then there's that thing called luck. You can't deny the draw and numbers you selected didn't excite you. So build on the excitement, get back on the horse and do your homework and post again.
I try to pick my numbers as early as I can before the draw and I seldom change my original picks. I find the more I tinker with the first selection process the less likely I am to do well. For me to change a number because I like one that another member posts, it has to show more promise than the least promising of my group. Don't fall in love with any number because its your favorite, it will usually burn you. This doesn't apply to DN's, since their use is good strategy. Remember to discuss. That's the purpose of these forums. Get busy....

I don't intend to give up on the lotteries. I also invest in sports wagering. I went to the local standardbred racetrack last night and picked up a few bucks to make up for my losses on the lottery.
I still have this vision firmly entrenched in my mind that Iwill win the big one.
I am a big believer in following stats and using data to make your investment decisions, but I certainly don't discard gut feelings or years of knowlege when it comes to picking winniners. I have picked numerous race winners after watching them warm up before their race. Of course they need to show something in the program for them to be on my short list.
To win the lottery would be the greatest achievement of all time. I really have not focused on it or monitored it on a serious basis like I follow sporting events. I am sure if I put a solid effort into lottery investing I will rise to the top.

I have a fundamental strategy that I use when I invest in horse racing, I don't have a sound fundamental strategy for picking lottery numbers.
Any advice you could provide me would be greatly appreciated.

strategy....it's shown potential in recent draws and now I'll fine tune it a bit. It requires no software .... a classic pencil and paper system...all that's required is a database of the past 10 draws. Some times it's the simplest method which achieves results. I'll keep using it because it just makes sense. Forget all the math it's only numbers. I use GH Advantage for stats and charts. Pricey, but complete and easy to use . I believe the way to win the lottery is to utilize a number of methods to select numbers from different fields and combine them into THE set to wheel. Then the wheeling gods take over.

Formulating a strategy

Is your focus primarily on the last 10 draws? You state thay you don't utilize any software in picking your numbers. I personally like the software If for nothing else than to help me develop my own personal strategy.
I am somewhat of an MS Excel geek so charting and tracking data is something I actually find fun. Two years ago I did develop an excel spreadsheet for picking 6/49 numbers. I'm trying to find it or create another one.
I think I haven't given myself enough time to develop a strategy. I drop $60 bucks three weeks in a row and "Say screw this sh$, I can't win at lotteries". I continue to bet on sports events because I'm confident I will make a few bucks.
Patterns or numbers I'm currently looking at:
- Sum of numbers
- Hot numbers
- Odd/even numbers
- Number groups (Super 7)
I guess because I have had reasonable success at picking horses, I tend to think in the same manner for picking lottery numbers.
Some of the things I've discovered in investing in the ponies:
- Most important races to look at are the last 2 the horse has participated in.
- Money won

Since I've been working on this O/E bias strategy I've concentrated on the last 10 draws. It just establishes a field of numbers to work with.(10X7;649)or(10X8;S7). The average skip is around 4-6 draws so that probably influences me. There are no set rules. For now I'll try 18 picks and see how far it goes. To reduce the pool, when I have to eliminate numbers I go to the sum of the previous draw. If the sum was high last draw I'll eliminate high numbers this draw and try catch the reversal. The sum total seems to alternate high and low. I use software for stats , hits, skips, etc. The softwares picking ability is questionable....sometimes hot ,sometimes not.
The last 10 draws let me scan the numbers NOW , not how they were 6 months ago. Past results are helpful in a tiebreaker, but I prefer to pick a number that's hit the last 3 or 5 draws than one without a hit for 10 or more draws because the software says it hit a year ago under a similar circumstance. This of course is just my opinion. With regards to a pattern or set of prevalent prize winning numbers, perhaps a member of the forum can assist.

Are you serious?
Obviously we have some real characters in the group. I suspect the majority of the people involved in this group have never won any serious coin playing the lotteries. Maybe I won't either, but I'd like to think that if I focus my energies in the right direction, I will at least take a small piece of the prize. Just to let everyone know I'm a very bad loser. If I'm not on top I'm busting my butt to get there. Maybe I should stick sports investing. At least there is something tangible that you can wrap your brain around when comes to sports wagering.

Everything in life is cyclical. Picking lottery numbers is no different. We are all trying to understand the cycle or pattern so that we can predict the future.
I guess one has to have a number of irons in the fire, so that they can afford to bankroll playing the lotteries.
The approach to solving the equation needs to be consistent and methodical, yet I do not believe that gut instincts are to be discounted totally.
Karnac it sounds like you have developed a sound approach to solving the equation. I think you have to determine what the most critical and consistent factors(Pareto)are, and then build your formula or strategy based on those critcal factors.

By concentrating on the O/E bias I can eliminate half the numbers and adjust from there. By drawing my numbers from 3 fields I don't depend on any individual area. We'll see in the next few weeks where this leads....it could be another flash in the pan strategy but I sense this method of number selection could have potential. It just makes sense when you break it down and analyse the components of the selection process.

A nice draw is about to strike in Super 7..... These great shifts have to stop at one point...As simple as that...
