A Bumper Crop of Icebergs 6/18/04 (Audrey Whelan)
Iceberg alley is seeing a lot of activity this season, the coast guard says there are more than 6 hundred of the ice giants off the coast from Goose Bay to south of Cape Race and they're posing a hazard to mariners. Captain Brian Penney says there are large numbers of bergs in Conception Bay, Bonavista Bay, along the northeast coast, through the straight of Belle Isle and some south of St. John's. Penney says the bergs are a real safety concern for vessels right out to the 200 mile limit.

Timely Lobster 6/18/04 (VOCM News)

Divers in a northeast England harbour made a rather timely discovery recently: a two-foot-long lobster who happened to be guarding a watch. Even more suprising for the divers was that the watch was still ticking, despite the fact that it was not sold as waterproof. The lobster is now settling in to a new home in an Aquarium, where one of the staff says they intend to buy him his own waterproof watch if they're not allowed to keep the original, "as he's clearly very keen on being on time."
